After putting the kids to bed and lighting the chiminea, hubby and I decided to give this beer a try and enjoy a quiet evening under the stars. Immediately upon opening my bottle, I was struck by the strong fruity scent of Michelob Ultra Lime Cactus Beer.
The smell was strong enough to assault my nose without even being tipped up to my mouth. As soon as the cap was removed, the air around me was filled with the very pungent scent of lime and a hint of lemon. Although that may sound pleasant, it really wasn’t. After smelling the beer without even meaning to, I was not very inclined to take a sip, but I did take a sip.
Michelob Ultra Lime Cactus Beer is perhaps one of the worst-tasting beers I have ever tried. The overpowering fruity taste, coupled with the intense scent, makes this beer extremely distasteful. There is very little traditional beer flavor, being overpowered by the strong and fruity flavoring. Those who enjoy wine coolers or flavored fruity drinks would not even be pleased with this beer.
Although Michelob is a trusted and popular beer distributor and has many fine products that have been popular for years, this one isn’t one of them. Immediately poured out the rest of the bottle after taking two sips and would certainly never purchase this product again. Although popular summer beers are traditionally crisper and infused with a tasty bit of flavor, Michelob went extremely overboard with this lime cactus beer.
I rate Michelob Ultra Lime Cactus Beer only one out of five stars and would not recommend it to anyone looking for a tasty summer beer to enjoy at a backyard barbecue or picnic. The lime flavor is simply too strong and overpowering to make this beer even slightly enjoyable.
