A trick to do is get both of them to low health (if you kill one, the other one gets insanely strong) and when they're both red, get eight pepped, have sylvando in the party, buff him, make sure the enemy is sapped, then use executioner to finish one off.
You can either defend until eight gets pepped again, or use.
The auroral serpent has a nasty mix of physical and magical attacks, and he even has an ability that can paralyze your party members.
If someone does happen to be paralyzed, you can use sylvando.
